Vol. 179 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Non-Admission of Patient to Hospital.

12.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the date of a complaint submitted to him by the South Cork Board of Public Assistance regarding the non-admission of a patient to Macroom hospital and his subsequent death at St. Finbarr's hospital, Cork; whether he has yet issued his decision on the case; and if not, when he hopes to do so.

The complaint was first submitted to my Department by letter dated 7th July last.

No decision has yet been conveyed to the health authority but I hope to be in a position to do so in the near future.

In view of the fact that the letter was sent last July, has there not-been an extraordinarily long delay in the issue of the Minister's decision?

I understand there was ample reason for the delay.
