Vol. 180 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fethard Regional Water Supply.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in advertising for the contract for the proposed Fethard regional water supply to serve the town of Killenaule and the village of Drangan; and if in view of the urgent need for the scheme he will cause an immediate inquiry to be made so as to expedite matters.

Since the acquisition of the water rights in October, 1958, the council has been negotiating for the purchase of the lands required for this scheme. In February last final agreement was reached with the remaining two land-owners who had been withholding consent.

The contract documents, which were approved in November, 1955, now require some minor revisions. When the revised documents are submitted and approved, the council will be in a position to advertise for tenders.
