Vol. 180 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Killanne (Wexford) Estate.

26.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress has been made with the division of the Brennan Estate, Springmount, Killanne, County Wexford.

The abnormal difficulties associated with this estate, due to its connection with an adjacent commonage extending over some 4,000 acres, were mentioned in reply to a previous Question by the Deputy on 25th February, 1959, and more recently in reply to a Question by Deputy Corish on 18th November last.

It is felt that the most satisfactory over-all plan for disposal of the Brennan estate can be formulated only when the numerous legal complications —involving such matters as boundary difficulties, grazing and turbary claims and rights of way—affecting the commonage have been eliminated.

Progress is necessarily slow and tedious, and, because of the amount of local adjustment needed, I must frankly say that it is not easy to foresee a speedy solution. Nevertheless, I have asked that the case be given unremitting attention.
