Vol. 181 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Health Clinic.

4.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the long delay in transferring to Priory House, Dungarvan, the health clinic for County Waterford; and whether it is proposed to transfer it in the near future.

Priory House, Dungarvan, was purchased by the Waterford County Council in 1955 for use as a Health Clinic and Dispensary. Plans for adaptation of the property for this purpose were submitted by the local authority to my Department for approval in May, 1957, but they were informed in the following month that on account of the existing difficult financial position a decision as to whether the project should proceed would have to be deferred.

In July, 1959, I decided that the necessary moneys could now be made available to finance the cost of the Priory House project and the local authority were informed that planning might proceed. The plans were finally approved by my Department early in the present month and it is now a matter for the local authority to have the structural works involved undertaken as soon as possible.
