Vol. 182 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Television Reception: Tipperary Booster Transmitter.

54.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether in view of the fact that the mountains and hills which surround most of North Tipperary are likely to present a special problem for television reception, arrangements will be made to set up a booster transmitter on Keeper Hill, Nenagh, which in addition to serving North Tipperary would also serve at least eleven of the southern counties.

The provision of a television system which will give a satisfactory service throughout the State will be a matter for the Broadcasting Authority, when established. However, I am advised that a transmitter or "booster" station on Keeper Hill should not be necessary. Arrangements are already being made for the acquisition elsewhere of sites for transmitters to serve the Southern counties.
