Vol. 184 No. 5

Written Answers. - Forestry Bonus Scheme.

75.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of forests where the forestry bonus scheme is in operation (a) the total number of men employed in each county immediately prior to the introduction of the scheme, and (b) the number at present employed, giving totals for all counties; and if he will give the names of the forests where the bouns scheme has not yet been introduced and the approximate date of commencement.

With regard to (a) of the Deputy's question, the position is that the Incentive Bonus Scheme was not simultaneously to all Forests within a county, application in the various forests in County Wicklow, for instance, went on over a period of 21 months. The preapplication employment figures given in reply to the Deputy's question of 26th October, 1960, and previous questions do not, therefore, relate to a particular employment week and to total them on a county basis would be meaningless.

(b) Present employment (week ended 21st October, 1960) at Forests where Incentive Bonus Scheme is in operation:—
