Vol. 185 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Project Grants.

18.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if in view of the increased charges, owing to increased cost of manpower and machinery, etc., it is proposed to increase section A grants under the Land Project.

I am satisfied that the present grants under Section A of the Land Project—two-thirds of the estimated cost subject to a maximum of £30 per acre—are generous.

Would the Minister not agree that the overhead charges have increased considerably since these prices were fixed?

Apart from whether they have increased or not, the maximum of £30, or two-thirds the estimated cost, is a generous State grant.

The Minister admits that the overhead charges have increased?

I do not know whether they have or not.

The Government know nothing. That is obvious.

I do not have to know whether they have or not to say, as I have said——

The Minister does not know and does not care. That is the general attitude.

Do not say that. I would feel terribly offended.

The Minister could not care less about anything.

I know——

So does the country.

Fine Gael will have a terrible time in putting across that yarn.
