Vol. 187 No. 1

Vote 28—Supreme Court and High Court of Justice.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £1,080 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1961, for such of the Salaries and Expenses of the Supreme Court and High Court of Justice as are not charged on the Central Fund (No. 27 of 1926, No. 48 of 1936, No. 25 of 1945 and No. 32 of 1953).

This Supplementary Estimate is mainly due to a deficiency which is expected to arise in the sum received by way of bankruptcy fees. The Estimate had been prepared originally in the expectation that these fees would bring in £1,200 in aid of the Vote, but owing to the fact that some cases will not have been wound-up the sum to be realised in the present year will not now exceed £200.

An additional sum is required to meet the expenses of sittings of the High Court outside Dublin which have been more prolonged than had been expected. There has also been a small increase in telephone expenses.

Vote put and agreed to.
