Vol. 188 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Reconstruction Grant.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the reconstruction grant will be paid to Mr. Daniel Murray, Royal Oak, Moyvalley, County Kildare, in respect of the reconstruction of his house which was completed in June, 1960.

An instalment of the grant in this case, amounting to £60, was paid in December, 1959.

The work finally carried out was sub-standard in many respects and the applicant was informed, at the time of inspection for final grant payment in November last, that certain remedial works would be necessary before the balance of the grant would be paid.

The case was recently inspected and it was found that no action had been taken by the applicant to remedy the defects. It is proposed, therefore, following normal procedure in similar cases, to decide the case on the basis of a substantial reduction in the balance of the grant outstanding. Arrangements on these lines will be made shortly.
