Vol. 192 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Walkinstown (Dublin) Telephone Exchange.

51.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the new telephone exchange at Walkinstown, Dublin, is likely to be in operation; when the 500 applicants for telephones in the Walkinstown exchange area are likely to be serviced; and if he will indicate the limits of the said area.

The new telephone exchange at Walkinstown was opened on 5th October last and arrangements are in hand to provide service for about 400 waiting applicants, all of whom should have telephones within about 3 months. A balance of 200 applicants will, it is hoped, be given service within the succeeding 3 months.

Walkinstown exchange area extends roughly from the Dublin-Cork railway line and the Grand Canal on the North to Whitehall Road East on the South; and from Sperrin Road and Clonard Road on the East to Fox and Geese and Ballymount Road Upper on the West.
