Vol. 193 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in Wexford Areas.

16.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when the electricity supply will be serviced to the Hook and Templetown area in County Wexford.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the neighbourhood of Hook, Co. Wexford, is included in the Kilmore area and that of Templetown, Co. Wexford, in the Fethard-on-Sea area. Both of these areas have been developed for a considerable time—Kilmore in 1952, and Fethard-on-Sea in 1950.

The Board state that any householder or group of householders who may still be without supply will be quoted terms on application to the Board's District Manager, Waterford, or the Local Representative in Wexford. If these terms are accepted supply will be extended at the earliest opportunity.

I take it the Templetown area will not be regarded as a separate area for the purpose of rural electrification? It will be included in some existing area?

They regard it as a developed area.

Part of a developed area?

A number of householders would not take the supply in the area, some of whom were offered supply at additional charges and some in the ordinary way.
