Vol. 193 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National College of Art.

96.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is satisfied that the standard of teaching in regard to (a) sculpture, (b) painting and (c) crafts at the National College of Art can be reasonably considered as being a starting point for the education of people in different crafts or for the education of painters and sculptors.

The Deputy's question appears to arise from the Scandinavian Report.

I am not aware that that Report contains any complaint about the standard of teaching in the National College of Art. Neither am I aware of any such complaints other than from the Deputy, who last week took advantage of the privilege of the House to make a totally unwarranted attack on the hardworking and honourable men, and women, who comprise the staff of the College.
