Section 93 (2) of the Road Traffic Act, 1933 empowers the Minister for Education to grant to the owner of a mechanically-propelled vehicle a licence for the conveyance of children to the school for reward. This section has been availed of in a number of cases.
The question of the establishment of a nation-wide scheme to which the State might contribute can be considered only in the context of the future provision to be made for post-primary education and so must await the completion of the consideration of that matter.
