asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in sanctioning the group one sewerage scheme planned for Raphoe, Convoy, Lifford, Castlefin, Killygordon and Ballindrait, County Donegal; and if he will hasten his sanction in view of the fact that the Donegal County Council will not proceed with any new housing schemes or any other improvements until the sewerage scheme is completed.

There are no proposals before my Department for the carrying out of the sewerage schemes referred to by the Deputy.
A proposal for the employment of a consulting engineer to report on sewerage schemes for the areas mentioned, with the exception of Ballindrait, submitted by the council to my Department recently, has been approved.
It is understood that the council do not propose to proceed with a scheme for Ballindrait having regard to the poor response to the canvass of the householders concerned.
