Vol. 194 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Meath Farms.

19.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have yet decided on the allocation of farms on the Rowntree Estate at Martry, County Meath; if so, if the land is to be given to local applicants or migrants; and what proportion to each.

Arrangements for disposal of the residue of this estate have not yet been finalised.

Is the Minister aware that some months ago, his colleague, the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, notified a local applicant that it had been decided by the Land Commission that, as only migrants could be accommodated, his application could not be considered?

I am not aware of my colleague saying any such thing, nor am I prepared to accept that this is anything more than a figment of the Deputy's imagination.

If I produce the letter which the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs wrote to the person concerned—I did not say he said it—will the Minister accept the evidence of his own eyes?
