Local authorities have. no specific power enabling them to acquire land for development as caravan sites. They have been encouraged to co-operate in the development of suitable sites with particular reference to the provision of water supply and sewerage services. In cases where these services are being provided as part of a general scheme they will rank for the usual subsidy. Sanitary authorities are also empowered to make contributions in approved cases towards the provision of water supplies other than public supplies. I would be prepared to consider in appropriate cases applications under the Public Amenity Grants Scheme from Development Associations and similar bodies for grants towards the development of caravan sites.
