asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state what was the number of directors on the board of Irish Shipping Ltd. when the company was founded; and what is the present number of directors.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of persons employed by Irish Shipping Ltd. (a) on shore and (b) at sea for each of the years 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of ships purchased by Irish Shipping Ltd. since the foundation of the company, together with the cost of each ship purchased.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of ships sold by Irish Shipping Ltd. since the foundation of the company, together with the price received for each ship sold.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 25, 26, 27 and 28 together.

The number of directors on the Board of Irish Shipping Ltd. on its formation was 6; the present number of directors is 7.

The average number of persons employed by Irish Shipping Ltd. on shore in each of the years 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961 was 78, 76, 75 and 88 respectively. The average number of persons employed by the company at sea in the same years was 672, 714, 675 and 712 respectively.

The total number of ships purchased by Irish Shipping Ltd. since its formation was 32 at a total cost of £16,990,308.

The total number of ships sold by Irish Shipping Ltd. since its formation was 14. The total amount realised out of the sale of these ships was £1,060,980.

It is not company policy to disclose the individual purchase or sale price of ships.
