Vol. 196 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Chapelizod (Dublin) Postal Deliveries.

38.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a business firm in Chapelizod, Dublin has lost orders because of delay in delivery of post from their travellers in the country; if he will take steps to expedite the delivery of post in that area; and if he will state the most appropriate manner of addressing correspondence to that area to ensure rapid delivery.

I am not aware of the incidents referred to. If the Deputy will let me have particulars, I shall have inquiries made.

The correct postal address for correspondence delivered from Chapelizod sub-post office is "Chapelizod, County Dublin".

Mr. Ryan

Will the Minister explain how it comes about that Chapelizod, which is in Dublin city, has to have a postal address described as "Chapelizod, County Dublin" in order to have speedy postal deliveries in that area?

The proper postal address is: Chapelizod, County Dublin.

Mr. Ryan

Will the Minister make that generally known in Chapelizod as there appears to be a great deal of confusion in the place? People living in Chapelizod are aware that they are in the city as they have to pay city rates but for postal purposes they are regarded as being in the county. They should be individually advised.

We are making special arrangements to have that done.
