The Civil Service Commissioners accept a pass in the matriculation examination of the National University of Ireland as the equivalent of a pass in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination provided the candidate obtained such marks in Irish and in each of four other subjects as are prescribed by the Department of Education as pass-marks on the pass paper of these subjects, at the Leaving Certificate examination.
