Vol. 196 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Estates.

41.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission propose to allocate the remainder of the Sweetman estate at Kells, County Meath.

Proposals for allocation of the remainder of this estate are in the course of formulation. It is not yet possible to say when allotment will be feasible but the matter will be expedited.

42.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission propose to divide the Crowley estate at Trim, County Meath.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to the debate on the Lands Estimate on 13th ultimo— Volume 196, columns 165 to 175— in the course of which I explained the position in relation to this estate, 113 acres of which have already been allotted.

Would the Minister not agree that six or seven years is a long time to have this estate in the hands of the Land Commission?

It all depends upon the circumstances. In these circumstances, as the Deputy is aware, these lands were put to other uses. They were used by the Department of Agriculture for dealing with reactors.
