Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Forestry Employment.

43.

asked the Minister for Lands the number of men employed on forestry work in County Donegal and the different rates of pay to employees.

The total number of men at present employed by the Forestry Division of my Department in County Donegal is 474. As regards wage rates, there is a standard basic wage rate of 125/- a week applicable to all forests in County Donegal. This rate also applies in all other counties except Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare.

In addition to basic earnings, the workers are paid a weekly bonus, the amount of which is determined by the productivity level achieved by the individual gangs in each week.
