Vol. 197 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Business in the following order: Nos. 5, 6 and 2 and in No. 2, Votes 51, 40 and 10. In accordance with the new rule, Private Members' Business will be taken from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

I should like to draw the attention of the House to the fact that we intend to withdraw No. 15— the Agricultural Wages (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 1961.

I take it that the procedure is that the Deputy moves for its discharge from Private Members' Business

May we assume that No. 16—the Transport Bill, 1962— will be taken from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. to-day?

Would the Taoiseach say when it is proposed to introduce the legislation providing for the increased allowances provided for in the

Budget for State and local authority pensioners?

The Minister informs me that he hopes it will be in this session.

Will the Minister for Finance say whether the present Bill deals only with State servants and not with local authority retired officials?

I am dealing only with State servants.

There must be separate legislation to provide authority for the local authorities to grant the pensions.

It is not decided yet whether the Minister for Local Government will introduce a Bill or whether I can authorise local authorities to give the pensions.

Do you need legislation?

I think so.

The pensioners are getting worried about it.

I think they are getting it though.

They know they are to get it but they would like to get it.

With your permission, Sir, I should like to give notice that I propose to raise the subject matter of Questions Nos. 151 to 172 on last Wednesday's Order Paper, on the Adjournment.

I shall communicate with the Deputy.
