Vol. 197 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Allowances of Ordnance Survey Officers.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a number of officers of his Department engaged in Ordnance Survey duties in the country are obliged to use their transport while discharging their duties without receiving any travelling expenses; and if he will consider a reasonable request for the payment of allowances in respect of such travel.

I understand that the question of travelling expenses of Ordnance Survey staff engaged on field duties is the subject of negotiation under the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for the Civil Service. Until a report of the Departmental Council which is considering the matter is submitted to me, I am unable to take any decision in the matter.
