Vol. 198 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Annual Leave.

36.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that forestry workers are allowed only eight days annual leave; and if he will take steps to have their conditions of employment reviewed so as to allow them normal annual leave of twelve working days.

Forestry workers are allowed the full quota of paid holidays to which they are entitled under the provisions of the Holidays (Employees) Act 1961. With regard to the second part of the Deputy's question, the grant of twelve days annual leave would entail the withdrawal of certain other paid holidays which these workers enjoy at present. I am not aware that the general body of Forestry workers desires such a change.
