Vol. 199 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parking Facilities for Commercial Vehicles.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government if commercial vehicles may park in places where parking is usually prohibited for the purpose of loading or unloading.

Generally this is permitted, but, of course, there are some exceptions. For example, no vehicle may be parked within 30 feet of a pedestrian crossing on the approach side. Also, it is unlawful to cause obstruction. The new Dublin parking bye-laws will prohibit loading and unloading in certain streets in the peak evening hours on Monday to Friday inclusive. For a statement of the position in any particular area, it is necessary to refer to the local parking bye-laws, as well as to the general bye-laws for the control of traffic.
