Vol. 199 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Water Supply Schemes.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from the Kerry County Council for the extension to Aughacashla North, Castlegregory and other areas of the newly laid water main along the Aughacashla road; and, if so, if his Department have given approval to enable an early start to be made.

The proposals referred to have not been received in my Department.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department received proposals from Kerry County Council to extend the Lixnaw water supply to Muckenaugh, Coolruane, Ballingar, Ballyrehan and Garrynagore; and, if so, if he will state the present position of the proposals.

Proposals have been received from Kerry County Council in regard to all these extensions except Ballingar in respect of which documents are being prepared at present by the Council. The proposal for an extension to serve Muckenaugh and Coolruane has been approved and it will be carried out as an extra on the main Lixnaw contract. As regards the extensions to Ballyrehan and Garrynagore I understand that the Council's Consulting Engineer has advised that the source of the Lixnaw supply would not be adequate to supply these areas and that it is now intended to serve them from the proposed Abbeydorney/Kilflynn scheme.
