andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons who applied for citizenship papers in this country during the last ten years, the number who, while satisfying the statutory requirements regarding residence, were refused on other grounds and what were those grounds.
The number of applications for naturalisation in the ten years 1953 to 1962 was 934.
As regards the reasons for refusal, I would refer the Deputies to the provisions of Section 15 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956.
