The system of patrols by Gardaí on foot and on pedal cycles has been retained in all Dublin suburbs, and has been supplemented and strengthened in recent years by the provision of additional patrols by Gardaí in motor cars and on motor cycles. I consider that the present mixed patrols constitute the most effective use of the force in the prevention and detection of crime and in deterring hooliganism.
