Prior to the making of the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963, neither the technical committee set up in County Dublin to consider the application of the speed limits nor the county council (to whom the committee reported) recommended that a speed limit should be introduced at Castleknock. However, representations regarding the case have since reached me from the county council. They were advised that the matter can be considered when the first review of the regulations takes place. I have already indicated in reply to previous questions that this review will commence at the end of the year, after the existing regulations have been given a period of trial.
