Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Social Welfare Offices.

27.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why the local social welfare offices have been closed at Charleville and Mitchelstown, County Cork.

28.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the inconvenience caused to people in South-West Cork by his Department's decision to withdraw social welfare officers from the area.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 27 and 28 together.

I replied on Thursday last, 24 Deireadh Fómhair, 1963 to a similar question by Deputy Brigid Hogan O'Higgins about the closing of the social welfare officer station at Gort. In my reply, I explained the circumtances which led to the closing of Gort and a number of other social welfare officer stations. These circumstances also apply to the closing of the stations mentioned in the questions.
