Vol. 205 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blind Persons.

29.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will comment upon the last annual report of the National League of the Blind in Ireland with reference to the need to assess more accurately the number of blind persons in the State.

I have obtained a copy of the report in question. I have no evidence which would suggest that because of the absence of a register of all blind persons within the State, any blind person is denied the full benefit to which he or she is entitled under the legislative provisions administered by my Department. If particulars of any case of this kind are brought to my notice, I will have the matter specially examined.
