Vol. 205 No. 3

Order of Business

Business, as set out on the Order Paper, will be taken in the following order: Nos. 4, 5, 11, Votes 29, *41 and 41, 6 and 7. Private Members' Business will be taken from 6 to 7.30 p.m. It is proposed to take Nos. 6 and 7 in conjunction with Vote No. 29.

With regard to to-morrow's vital debate, I understand that the time proposed is limited. It would seem to me it will not afford the opportunity which is the right of every Deputy to participate. I want to ask the Taoiseach and those others concerned to consider between now and to-morrow the advisability of permitting unlimited time so that any member who may wish to participate may do so and that the debate should continue until such conclusion is reached, no matter what the time.

I am prepared to make all the normal time available to-morrow for the discussion. If Deputies want a vote to-morrow, they can have it before 10.30 p.m. If they want to talk they can talk any time. In one eventuality I would point to the great volume of business to be done by the Dáil. In another eventuality, I would not wish to keep the President too late for his bed.

He is well used to night rides to the Park.
