Vol. 211 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Funeral Expenses of Connaught Ranger.

53.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the family of a Connaught Ranger, who took part in the Indian Mutiny of 1920 and who died in April last, are unable to bear the funeral expenses involved; and whether in the special circumstances he will undertake payment.

There are no provisions in the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Acts whereby the funeral expenses of a deceased Connaught Rangers pensioner could be defrayed and I have no funds at my disposal from which to make such a payment.
