Vol. 215 No. 10

Written Answers. - Agricultural Employment and Income.

30.

asked the Taoiseach the estimated total profits in agriculture in each of the years 1948 to 1966, inclusive, under the following heads: (1) farm profits, (2) number of males other than employees at work, and (3) average income per head per week.

The following table shows (1) farm profits (income from self-employment and other trading income), (2) number of persons, other than employees, at work in agriculture, (3) average income per person per week, from 1948 to 1964. Data for later years are not available.

In (2) of the reply the number of persons at work is based on Census of Population figures and includes females. This appears to be the appropriate population figure to relate to total farm profits.
