The report of the Commission of Inquiry on Mental Handicap, which was submitted to my predecessor on 30th March, has since been published, and copies issued to all Deputies. In addition, copies have been sent to various voluntary organisations concerned with the services for the mentally handicapped, to Government Departments and to other interests. Observations, if any, on the recommendations in the report were requested by 31st ultimo. The report is, also, being examined urgently in my Department.
If the Deputy repeats his question in five or six weeks time, I should be then in a position, having reviewed the replies received, to let him have fuller information.
