Vol. 216 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aerial Survey of Ireland.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the Ordnance Survey Office propose to carry out a comprehensive aerial survey of Ireland; if so, when; whether additional equipment has been or will be purchased for this purpose; if so, the nature and quantity thereof; and what new personnel will be recruited.

I am informed by the Director of Ordnance Survey that he does not propose now or in the immediate future to carry out a comprehensive aerial survey of Ireland.

During 1966 it is his intention to introduce surveying from aerial photographs for mapping at a large scale the urban area of Dublin.

One air survey plotting machine costing about £10,000 will be ordered for this work. Four projectors costing about £600 each will in addition be purchased.

New personnel have not been recruited.
