Vol. 216 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delayed Social Welfare Payments.

19.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if in view of the inconvenience caused by the irregular and delayed payments made to a person (name supplied) he will take steps to have the matter rectified.

Payments of disability benefit in respect of the husband of the person named by the Deputy, to whom it is presumed the question refers, have been made by my Department regularly and promptly on receipt of medical certificates. Any variations in the day of the week in which benefit cheques are posted to this claimant have been due entirely to variations in the day of receipt of medical certificates in my Department. If the person concerned would arrange to have his medical certificates handed in at my Department's local office at Limerick in good time each Wednesday he should, in the ordinary course of post, receive his benefit cheque on the following Saturday.
