Vol. 217 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Medical Officers.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange to have separate medical officers appointed for Dublin city and county as the insistence by the present joint medical officer on standards appropriate to urban conditions is frustrating the efforts of many people in the country to provide themselves with houses and is thereby adding to the housing problem in the area.

The question of the appointment of separate medical officers for Dublin city and county is a matter for decision in the first instance by the health authority, subject to the approval of the Minister for Health.

The responsibility for determining appropriate standards for the servicing of houses in Dublin county is one for decision by the county council.
