Vol. 217 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Wool.

92.

andMr. Barry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the serious plight in which sheep farmers find themselves owing to the low price for wool; and if he will make a statement in regard to it.

I am aware that the prices received for wool this year have fallen appreciably compared with the very high prices in 1963-64, though not with the prices in earlier years. The price is determined by the effective world demand for wool and by competition from synthetic fibres.
