Vol. 217 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Location of New Dublin Hospital.

107.

asked the Minister for Health whether a decision has yet been reached in regard to the location of the new St. Laurence's Hospital, Dublin; whether a date for starting work on its construction has yet been fixed; and what is the position regarding the provision of accommodation for nurses.

Mr. O'Malley

The St. Laurence's Hospital project is one of a number of hospital schemes receiving my special consideration and I am not yet in a position to make a definite statement in relation to it.

Meantime, I understand that of 185 nurses employed at the hospital about 140 are accommodated in the hospital premises. Pending a decision on the hospital project generally, including the provision of staff accommodation, the hospital authority has been informed that approval will be given to any reasonable proposals for the renting of suitable premises for the accommodation of nursing staff.
