Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nigerian Immigration.

16.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state with reference to a report (details supplied) whether a statement was recently issued in Lagos by his Department relating to Nigerian immigration; if so, if he will make copies of the statement available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Our Embassy in Lagos has for some months been issuing after consultation with the Nigerian authorities, a memorandum for the guidance of Nigerian nationals intending to go to Ireland. The purpose of the memorandum is to explain the immigration requirements with which such persons have to comply in order to be admitted to Ireland. The text of the memorandum was published by the Ministry of Information in Lagos for the assistance of intending travellers. Copies of the memorandum have been placed in the Oireachtas Library.
