asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will bring up to date the table relating to old age pensions given in a reply of 28th May 1958.

The table is continued to date in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

Statement showing (a) the maximum weekly rate of pension under the Old Age Pensions Acts payable at mid-February in each year from 1959 to 1965; and (b) the adjusted amounts, to the nearest penny, in proportion to the Consumer Price Index (formerly cost of living index) in respect of each date (or the nearest date for which index was computed) corresponding to the February, 1922 maximum rate of pension.

* From 1st November, 1964 the pension was increased by 10/- a week in respect of each of the first two qualified children and by a further 5/- a week in respect of each qualified child in excess of two.

STATEMENT showing (a) the maximum yearly means which entitled persons to full old age pension at mid-February in each year from 1959 to 1965; and (b) the adjusted amounts, to nearest penny, in proportion to the Consumer Price Index (formerly cost of living Index) in respect of each date (or the nearest date which the Index was computed) corresponding to the February 1922 maximum yearly means.
