asked the Minister for Health what immediate plans he has envisaged to cater for the mentally handicapped children of South Tipperary and West Waterford.

Mr. O'Malley
As I indicated to the House recently, I have been, and am still, endeavouring to interest suitable organisations in establishing a special home in the south east region for the mentally handicapped. Negotiations are still in progress which, I hope, will result in one or two institutions becoming available in that area. These institutions would, I expect, cater for the South Tipperary and West Waterford areas which the Deputy has in mind, although, as a rule, residential institutions are not tied to a particular area or region.
