(i) The salaries of the staff of the Civil Defence Branch of the Department are not included in the figures above.
(ii) Operational and training equipment costing a total of approximately £350,000 has een issued on loan to Local Authorities between 1st January, 1956 and 31st December, 1965.
(iii) The figures in the third and fourth columns represent grants payable to Local Authorities at the rate of 70% on approved expenditure incurred in the financial year 1964/65.
