Vol. 220 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Stations.

63.

asked the Minister for Justice when the proposed new Garda station will be erected at Mitchelstown, County Cork.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance has informed me that the Commissioners of Public Works are seeking a site for the new Garda station which it is proposed to provide at Mitchelstown, County Cork.

It is not possible at this stage to say when the new station will be erected.

64.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is proposed to close down the Garda station at Ballinderry, County Tipperary; and, if so, when.

65.

asked the Minister for Justice what is the present position regarding the erection of a new Garda station at Coolbawn, Nenagh, County Tipperary; whether tenders have been placed for the building work; and when it is expected that the station will be completed and opened.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 64 and 65 together.

It is proposed to provide a new central Garda station at Coolbawn, Nenagh, to replace the existing stations at Puckaun and Ballinderry. I am informed by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance that the purchase of a site for the new central station at Coolbawn has recently been completed. Tenders have not yet been invited, and it is not possible at this stage to say when the new station will be completed.

The stations at Ballinderry and Puckaun will not be closed until the new station at Coolbawn has been completed.
