As the answer to the first part of the question is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.
The information in the statement has been prepared by the Central Statistics Office and shows imports on the basis of the country of origin of the goods. Particulars of imports by reference to the country from which the goods were consigned are not compiled. Deputies will be aware, however, that, under the Tea (Purchase and Importation) Act, 1958, tea may be imported only by Tea Importers (1958) Limited and by them only from the country or origin, except for certain quantities imported under licence where the country of origin is land-locked and must export through another country.
