Note:— The figures at (a) represent 50% of the cost of approved works of upkeep on main roads; those at(b),(c),(d),(e) and (f) represent 100% of the cost of approved works. Allocation of the grants at (g) is subject to a local contribution of from 5.4% to 25% of the total cost of the works. The figures at (h) include grants such as special grants for bridges on main roads which represent 75% of the cost of the work.

asked the Minister for Local Government the estimated amounts payable to local authorities from State funds in grants or recoupments relating to housing in respect of contributions to loan charges which are (a) urban and (b) rural for the financial years ending 31st March, 1965 and 31st March, 1966.
The total contributions paid by the State to urban authorities during the year ended 31st March, 1965, in respect of loan charges relating to housing amounted to £1,647,726. A sum of £886,478 was paid to county councils. The corresponding payments in respect of the year ending 31st March, 1966, are estimated at £1,785,355 and £914,645 respectively.

asked the Minister for Local Government the estimated amounts payable to local authorities from State funds in grants or recoupments relating to sanitary services in respect of contributions to loan charges which are (a) urban and (b) rural for the financial years ending 31st March, 1965 and 31st March, 1966.

The amount of the agricultural grant for 1964-65 was £11,187,050 and the amount payable in respect of 1965-66 is £12,487,009.
