asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that article 12 (4) (b) of the Schedule to the Local Government (Application of Enactments) Order, 1898 dated 22nd December 1898 is not listed in the repeals in the First Schedule of the Electoral Act, 1963 with the result that a member of a local authority who is obliged to accept assistance or rent allowance in circumstances of redundancy or a lock-out may be disqualified from membership of a local authority; and if he will sponsor amending legislation immediately.
