Vol. 221 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Street Traffic.

58.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that because of the considerable flow of vehicular traffic in Lincoln Place, Dublin, pedestrians find it extremely difficult to cross that street; and if the Garda Síochána will take steps to assist pedestrians in that street.

The Garda do not rule out the possibility that a control on traffic in Lincoln Place in the interests of pedestrians may become necessary, but a careful survey made after the introduction of the one-way system satisfied the Garda and technical officers of Dublin Corporation and the Department of Local Government that the situation there did not require the imposition of a control. Definite breaks in vehicular traffic do occur and these will become more evident when pedestrian operated signals come into operation at the junction of Grafton Street and Nassau Street in the near future.
