Vol. 221 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish-made Greeting Cards.

36.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the difficulty of getting Irish-made greeting cards; and that while cards are on sale in this country most of them are printed abroad; and if he has brought this matter to the attention of the appropriate printers.

I understand that it would not be an economic proposition to produce here all the varieties and types of greeting cards required to meet the home market demand. Home production of cards has, however, increased substantially in recent years and we are, in fact, exporting more than twice the value of the cards imported into this country.
